With the aim of moving into a new career in international development, Robert Tew studied for a BSc in Development and Economics as an independent student. He wanted a degree that would give him a good grounding in development issues and provide a qualification which was recognised internationally.
This course helped him understand the complex relationship between the developed and the developing world and the reasons and possible remedies for global poverty.
Robert is now employed on a project to improve the tracking of international aid and has worked in several countries across Africa. "My understanding of the economic and sociological aspects of international development has enabled me to hold my own in meetings with senior government officials in donor and developing countries."
"Obtaining my degree gave me a possibly the greatest sense of achievement I have ever experienced and I have no doubt that I would not have got this job without it."
