Today, we have over 3,400 students in Africa, studying for a range of qualifications, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in agriculture, business, computing, economics, healthcare, law, management and petroleum geoscience.
Our qualifications are respected by universities and employers in Africa and around the world. Graduates gain prestigious jobs in banks, multinational companies, law firms and the public sector and go on to further study at the world’s leading universities. Former students from Africa include Nelson Mandela, Heads of Government, Nobel Laureates and prominent judges.

Our distance learning method offers you flexibility so that you can schedule your studies around your own needs. Students study and take their exams locally (across Africa, the exams are organised by either local Ministries of Education or through the British Council). However, if your work or family causes you to move you can take your studies with you as we have almost 600 examination centres all over the world. No matter where you take your exams, all of your papers are marked by academics in London, so you can be sure of the high quality of the University of London degree.
Some of our students in the Africa are supported by full-time and part-time (evening and weekend) classes at local teaching institutions in their country. We have created a system of recognition for institutions which operate within our quality assurance framework to help you in your choice of institution. To find an institution in your country, please see our Directory of Institutions.
To view the courses we offer you can either browse our full list of undergraduate programmes (for holders of UK A' levels or equivalent qualifications) or Masters programmes or use our 'Find a course' facility. If you do not hold A levels or their equivalent our Diploma programmes and Access Routes may be of interest.
The University of London International Programmes is introducing scholarships for students to study for a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in Africa. There are a number of scholarships on offer for students in the 2012-13 academic year, covering all student registration and exam fees. Please watch our website for more information.

“I believe education is what takes you to the top and helps you make it in life if you are not from a wealthy family. Gaining my qualifications has also made a big difference to my confidence. It proved to me that I have the potential to achieve what I want in my career.”

Muganyizi Ndyamukama, MSc Environmental Management, Tanzania
“My study has helped me to facilitate better informed community decisions on sustainable management of water resources. Studying while working gave me the opportunity to apply the knowledge I was learning in my daily work and in the local context.”
