Alumni Bursary FAQs

How much of the fees does the bursary cover?

The bursary is 10% from fees charged by UOLIP including; registration, undergraduate examination entry (not local fees) and module fees. There is no discount on application fees (where applicable), accreditation of prior learning, module continuation fees, nor against fees that are not directly charged by UOLIP; such as fees charged by recognised Teaching Institutions. In regards to examination re-sit fees the bursary may be applied to undergraduate re-sit fees but not to those on the postgraduate courses. The only difference to the bursary rate is for the Global MBA programme and is discussed below.

Is the bursary rate the same for the Global MBA programme?

No, the bursary for the Global MBA programme is 20%. This rate of 20% is valid until the September 2018 intake, that is, it is valid for the 2017/18 academic year but not beyond.

I wish to apply for a diploma/certificate course - is this covered by the bursary?

Yes, the bursary can now be applied against Diploma and Certificate courses as well as against Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.

Can I receive the Alumni Bursary to do individual modules?

Yes, the bursary can now be applied against Individual Modules as well as against Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.

Can the bursary be applied retroactively?

No, The Bursary is only valid for studies that begin, for Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees, in, or after, the 2016/17 academic year. For Certificates, Diplomas, and Individual Modules they are only valid for studies that begin in, or after, the 2017/18 academic year. The bursary cannot be retroactively applied to studies before these periods.

Can the Alumni Bursary be applied to full course fees as well as modules taken on a pay-as-you-go basis?

Yes, certainly, the bursary can be applied to both the full course fees and the pay-as-you-go model.

I qualify for the bursary but would like to pass it on to a family member. Is this possible?

No, the bursary can only be used by the graduate themselves.

Can my bursary be used against fees charged by a teaching institution?

No, the bursary only applies to fees charged directly by UOLIP including; registration, undergraduate examination entry (not local fees) and module fees. What proof do I need to provide that I have completed a degree with UOLIP?

Your full name, student number, degree awarded and year of award should be sufficient for us to be able to confirm your status.

I obtained my degree from one of the lead colleges, on-campus, do I qualify for this bursary?

No, this bursary only applies to alumni of the UOLIP who wish to study another degree through UOLIP.

Can my bursary be applied to on-campus study through a University of London lead college?

No, this bursary only applies to alumni of the UOLIP who wish to study another degree through UOLIP (distance learning).

I am a UOLIP alumni how do I get my bursary code?

You will need to email us once you have applied and received your offer letter. Please do not start your registration or pay until you have received your bursary code.

Can I use my bursary against my Application Fee?

No, there is no discount on application fees, accreditation of prior learning, examination re-sits or rechecks nor against fees that are not directly charged by UOLIP.

I am an alumni who graduated on the External System – could I still qualify for the bursary?

Yes, we would need you to provide us with your full name, student number, degree awarded and the year of award but there should be no problem in your qualifying for the bursary.

I am an alumni who graduated on the International Programmes – could I still qualify for the bursary?

Yes, we would need you to provide us with your full name, student number, degree awarded and the year of award but there should be no problem in your qualifying for the bursary.

I am an LLB student who is re-attempting the LLB through the graduate entry route after successfully completing the LLB previously, do I qualify for the bursary?

No, you cannot claim the bursary for a degree which you have already completed.

Are all the Bachelors and Masters programmes covered by the bursary?

No, unfortunately the Information Security programmes with academic direction offered by Royal Holloway are not covered by the bursary. The CeFiMS and CeDeP programmes offered in conjunction with SOAS are likewise not covered by the bursary. This means that while graduates of these programmes would receive the bursary to study other courses the bursary cannot be applied to the courses stated above.
