2014 Imagenation photo competition

We're launching our fourth photo competition and we'd like you to get involved
imagenation photo competition
This year's theme: Your Life, Your Country
Your photo must convey a unique vision of life in your country – whether it’s a landmark, a celebration, a cultural event, a remarkable landscape or a scene from nature

Calling all aspiring photographers: imagenation is back!

Today, we're launching our fourth photo competition and we need you to get involved.

For 2014, imagenation4 highlights a sense of togetherness. For the first time, the competition is open to all staff at our Recognised Centres worldwide, as well as current International Programmes students. The University of London's reach is global, with our students coming from all corners of the world, and we also have a growing network of Recognised Centres worldwide. This gives us an ideal opportunity to capture original, imaginative imagery from across the globe.

This year there is just one main photo category: Your Life, Your Country. We’re looking for 13 unique images for our 2015 calendar that capture your vision of your country.

Your photo must convey a unique vision of life in your country – whether it’s a landmark, a celebration, a cultural event, a remarkable landscape or a scene from nature. It’s up to you. You do not have to provide a literal interpretation of a scene, your photo can be abstract and innovative in composition. That’s not to say that ‘simple’ won’t fit the brief just as well, it just means that the sky’s the limit!

You can submit up to three photographs in total and all submissions must be received by 26 October 2014, midnight GMT. Please send your photos, along with the official entry form, to: photos@london.ac.uk

The competition is aimed at promoting the talents of those who enter by giving you a platform to get your work recognised. The winning and highly commended photographs from the competition will be utilised throughout the University in a variety of print and online materials as well as the 2015 calendar.

There will be a total of three winners chosen by a panel of judges including Dr Mary Stiasny, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) and Chief Executive of the University of London International Programmes. The judges will be looking for photos that meet the category brief, but also those that demonstrate artistic merit and originality. The three winners will be awarded the following prizes:

  • First place: £200 Amazon Gift Card.

  • Second place: £150 Amazon Gift Card.

  • Third place: £100 Amazon Gift Card.

As the competition involves you providing us with images that you own, you must agree to give the University a licence to publish and catalogue these as we wish. You will retain the copyright to your submitted photo(s). However, by entering the competition, you agree to grant the University of London a non-exclusive, royalty-free worldwide licence to publish the photo(s) as desired, either in print or online.

For full details, including information on how to enter and the Official Rules & Guidelines, visit the imagenation web pages.

And just a reminder: the competition is open to all staff at our Recognised Centres worldwide, as well as current International Programmes students. The competition closes on 26 October 2014, midnight GMT.
