Crescendo International College recently held its 2014 Graduation Ceremony in Amansari Residence Resort, giving special tribute to its students for successfully completing their University of London undergraduate studies, ACCA, and A levels at the College.
Attended by almost 250 people, the event was one of the most memorable graduation events ever held by the College. It was also graced by the presence of three very important guests who came all the way from the UK: Mr John Ferrá (Deputy Director of University of London International Programmes at LSE), Dr Jan Stockdale (Dean of University of London International Programmes at LSE) and, Mr Chris Jenney (Senior Admissions Manager at the University of London International Programmes).
In his welcoming speech, the College’s Chief Executive Mr Fang noted that programmes such as the Cambridge A level, ACCA, and the University of London International Programmes are among the most challenging academic programmes in the world. The fact that students chose these programme proved that they understood the international recognition of having such a qualification. Out of love and concern for his students, he even gave crucial tips on how they can succeed in their future work life.
In her speech, Dr Jan Stockdale highlighted her observation of Crescendo’s notable rise in the local education arena, as well as its ability to produce strong graduates who can serve in corporations and multinationals worldwide. Apart from its reputation for being one of the leading Law and Accounting colleges in the country, she was also impressed with the College’s new Desa Cemerlang Campus, which she described as “magnificent”. She also shared a few tips with the graduates and told them that, above all, they should enjoy their lives to the fullest.
"The valedictory speech given by Terry Tan, one of Crescendo’s First Class Honours students this year, inspired many others to excel and believe that nothing is impossible."
The main event of the day kicked off with the presentation of scrolls to graduates of the University of London and ACCA by Mr John Ferrá, followed by Mr Chris Jenney who was given the honour of presenting graduation scrolls to Crescendo’s A level students. Dr Jan Stockdale completed the list of conferment by presenting ‘Best Student Award’ to 11 of Crescendo’s outstanding academic performers.
The valedictory speech given by Terry Tan, one of Crescendo’s First Class Honours students this year, inspired many others to excel and believe that nothing is impossible. The former Chinese high school student faced huge language obstacles when he signed up for the University of London’s BSc Accounting and Finance degree, but overcame the handicap by forcing himself via every means possible to master the language for his studies. He even joined the College’s toastmasters association, subsequently becoming one of its proud representatives who is now able to give talks and join speech competitions.
It was a joyful and important day for everyone involved, one of those rare moments where students can share their joy of academic achievements with family and friends.
