On Saturday 22 March the University of London International Programmes hosted its first ever event in Moscow, Russia.

As the snow fell on the nearby Bolshoi theatre and Red Square, students and alumni met for the first time at the Ararat Park Hyatt hotel.

As the night went on a good time was had by all. So what did these first time attendees think?

“I think alumni events are important, because it is an opportunity to see old friends, network with fellow alumni and stay connected with the University of London. The alumni reception in Moscow was really fantastic: friendly atmosphere, new interesting people, nice place, cute small bear! I’m looking forward to seeing everybody at the next Alumni event in Moscow! I hope to see even more people there!” said Alumni Ambassador, Olga Rybina, who was the first person to register for the event.

“Thank you for this event. The atmosphere was lovely,” said current student Grigory Kapliy.

I’m really looking forward to the event,” all after Bear explained to Amna via facebook that she was part of the UoL family regardless of country or course. In the true nature of uniting the unique global community that are our students and alumni, she decided to attend.

“It is always good to attend an alumni meet up”, Amna commented after the event. “The major thing I struggle with in distance learning is the discipline and interactions one develops with face to face teaching. I make it a point to attend any alumni event possible as it makes me feel a part of the university and I can put some faces to the whole experience.”

So it seems that even the snow couldn’t keep the students and alumni away from a truly wonderful first event in Russia. And that they may just be falling in love with our bear!
