After I completed my Bachelor of Business Management in Marketing from Christ University Bangalore, I was searching for a college where I could get a good degree in finance.

The Indian School of Business and Finance’s Diploma for Graduates in Finance caught my eye. The programme was unique in that it was offering a University of London degree, with LSE the Lead College providing academic direction, and had an industrial standing. LSE is a world-renowned College with an excellent academic reputation and so I thought of taking up this programme to hone my skills further in the field of finance.

Coming here after studying at Christ University, it was a surprise for me that only four subjects were being taught, as I was used to having 12 subjects in a year. For that matter, most Indian colleges would offer around 10-12 subjects a year. My experience with this taught me that having such a huge course, people would never study all the subjects thoroughly and were bound to skip some portions as per their convenience.

The courses were well designed by LSE – every chapter of each textbook was interesting to read and gave a new understanding and perspective. I could actually relate to the matter being taught and think of how to use it in real life. The courses were extremely tough and required lots of hard work but, if done properly, were extremely beneficial.

Even after studying a considerable portion of Accounting and Finance in my Bachelors degree, I found most of the course material taught here to be new to me. The best part was that I didn’t find anything being taught as not having any significance in real life. The academic structures of these courses are well aligned with the prevailing industry standards, and full of examples which help you relate with it.

"My excellent teachers helped me in every way and taught me from the basics so I could understand the more advanced work properly and thoroughly."

Coming from a non-maths background it was very difficult for me to grasp the subject matter at first, but I got full support from my excellent teachers who helped me in every way and taught me from the basics so I could understand the more advanced work properly and thoroughly. They were extremely well read and guided us throughout the year so we could excel in our exams.

I would suggest anyone who wants to have a good, stand-alone degree in finance to take this course, whether for their own understanding or for joining the industry. One thing is sure – after successful completion of this course, no other course would seem difficult or impossible to do, nor would there be any lack of knowledge in the subjects studied here.
