Exemptions - AM I Eligible to APPLY?

Work Experience Entry Route
No exemptions are allowed.

Diploma applicants (see also ‘All applicants’)
You can be considered for exemption from Mathematics for business (2910001) if you:

• satisfy the entrance requirements for the Diploma and
• have passed a GCE ‘AS’ level examination, or the equivalent, in a mathematical subject.

Notes:
· No exemption can be awarded for any unit other than Mathematics for business
· If you are given exemption from Mathematics for business, you must sit the examination for one or two of the remaining Diploma units within two years of the exemption being awarded.

BSc applicants (see also ‘All applicants’)
If you are applying for the degree you can be considered for exemption provided you satisfy all of the following criteria:
1. You are eligible to be registered for the degree.
2. You are suitably qualified.

• You must have passed examinations that compare in level, content and standard to the examinations for one or more (to a maximum of four) Level 1 and/or Level 2 units from which you want to be exempted, with a maximum of two units at Level 2.
• Exemptions are normally only considered on a subject-for-subject basis. For example, you should only apply for exemption from the unit Mathematics for computing if, in your
  opinion, you have previously studied a similar subject in the same depth, at degree level (or the equivalent), and you have achieved good marks in the corresponding examination.
• We do not give exemptions on the basis of ‘O’ or ‘A’ levels, or other similar school-leaving examinations.
• To apply for an automatic exemption, you must satisfy all the criteria for one of the qualifications listed under Automatic exemptions.

3. You must normally have studied for your qualification at one institution.

All applicants (Diploma and BSc)
Whether you are applying for exemption from units of the degree or of the Diploma, you must also:

• have passed the whole of the qualification(s) on which your application for exemption is based within the five years preceding the application
• have already received the final award for that qualification(s). If you have not yet received the award, your exemption application will be considered under the exemption regulations that apply at the time that the award is finally made. These regulations may be different to those that apply at the time you submitted your application.

Applications for exemption from examinations in the following year will only be considered if your qualification is awarded before the application deadline in the year before (i.e. 17 September for non-EU residents and 17 October for EU residents).

Notes:
· We cannot consider you for exemption from a particular unit if you have already entered the examination for that unit.
· The granting of exemptions by other higher educational or professional institutions will be noted but does not bind the University of London to award the same exemption(s).
