Launched in SOAS's Brunei Gallery, 'A Future for the Past: Petrie's Palestinian Collection' highlights the extraordinary finds made by archaeologist Sir Flinders Petrie. A former Professor of Egyptology at UCL, Petrie spent many years working in the area around modern Gaza in the 1920s and 1930s. This is the first time that many of the artefacts including 3,000-year-old gold jewellery and pottery dating from the fifth century BC have been on public display.
The exhibition runs until 24 March 2007 from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30am to 5:00pm. For more information, please visit www.soas.ac.uk/gallery/palestine (external link).
