Trinidad and Tobago event - 2009
Former President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Arthur N R Robinson, who achieved an LLB in 1949 via the External System, addressed a reception in Port of Spain, Trinidad on 25 June, which was held to thank local supporters. He shared his personal experiences and the challenges of studying without any local tuition support. He told the audience that he was inspired to overcome the difficulties when he read that US President Abraham Lincoln, one of his heroes, studied law in a log cabin. He added that he had no idea whatsoever that he would later become president of Trinidad and Tobago.
