Each unit is assessed by one three-hour unseen written examination, and each half unit by one two-hour unseen written examination.
You do not have to come to London to take your examinations . Examinations are held once a year in local overseas centres around the world as well as in London. Examinations overseas are arranged mainly through Ministries of Education or the British Council. You will be charged a fee by your local examination centre (this fee will vary).
Examinations are held once a year, usually in May. For further information please see the Exams section of our website.
The standard of the examination is the same as that for students studying the foundation units of the degrees in Economics, Management, Finance and the Social Sciences.
When you register as an External student you are not automatically entered for your examinations. These are separate procedures and you have to apply to enter. The Regulations, which you are sent as part of your study package, will tell you how and when to do this. We send you the Regulations when we give you an offer of registration and every year after that when we receive your continuing registration fee.
