About the Programme

Diploma in Social Sciences

Is this course for me?

The Diploma in Social Sciences is a qualification in its own right. It also provides an entry route to the degrees in the fields of Economics, Management, Finance and the Social Sciences (Lead College: The London School of Economics and Political Science) if you do not currently have the qualifications required to study at degree level. Students who successfully complete the programme should have developed analytical and communicative competence in order to allow them to undertake further study at undergraduate level.

The Diploma is a taught programme and must be studied at a recognised centre, which is listed offering this programme on the Directory of Institutions.

Programme structure and estimated study hours

To complete the programme you must pass four full units (or the equivalent). Although you have between 1-5 years to complete the Diploma, it is usually taken over one year for full time students. You are expected to study for 35 hours per week, including lectures and tutorials.

Prestige

Developed by academics at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), regarded as an international centre of academic excellence and innovation in the social sciences.

Transfer

There are several universities in the UK - including LSE and other Colleges of the University of London - that will consider you for entry into the second year of a degree. To be considered, you will need to have passed syllabuses similar to those taken at the Colleges concerned and to have achieved very high marks.
