Programme Specifications
Programme Specifications are concise descriptions of
- the intended outcomes of learning from a higher education programme; and
- the means by which these outcomes are achieved and demonstrated.
They enable academic staff and relevant professional bodies to establish the content and purpose of programmes before and as they are delivered.
Programme Specifications also help prospective students and their parents, employers and sponsors to make informed decisions by showing current students what they are expected to achieve and demonstrate and by describing the knowledge, understanding and skills that will have been achieved by successful students. Programme Specifications also enable Examiners and Assessors to decide if students have met the requirements for their award and how well they have done so.
