A. Knowledge and understanding

Successful students should be able to:

  • display basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamental topics underlying the use of computers, software networks and the Internet
  • understand the value of object orientation
  • understand basic principles of information systems
  • understand how to implement a system corresponding to a straightforward user requirement set
  • undertake study for the upper levels of the corresponding degree programme

B. Intellectual and practical skills

Successful students should be able to:

  • write a working program to meet user requirements for a simple system
  • test, correct and extend the functionality of an existing program of moderate complexity and size

C. Transferable skills

Successful students should be able to:

  • solve straightforward problems in a systematic, logical manner
  • determine the relevant information in a simple scenario so that a given problem may be solved in a structured way
  • manage time and work to deadlines for projects of small size
  • work independently on relatively small tasks
  • communicate ideas effectively
  • reason logically and argue coherently for relatively small-scale scenarios
