Successful students should be able to:
- display basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamental topics underlying the use of computers, software networks and the Internet
- understand the value of object orientation
- understand basic principles of information systems
- understand how to implement a system corresponding to a straightforward user requirement set
- undertake study for the upper levels of the corresponding degree programme

- write a working program to meet user requirements for a simple system
- test, correct and extend the functionality of an existing program of moderate complexity and size

Successful students should be able to:
- solve straightforward problems in a systematic, logical manner
- determine the relevant information in a simple scenario so that a given problem may be solved in a structured way
- manage time and work to deadlines for projects of small size
- work independently on relatively small tasks
- communicate ideas effectively
- reason logically and argue coherently for relatively small-scale scenarios
