2 Registration

Effective date of registration

2.1 (GR)

A student's effective date of initial registration for the Work Experience Entry route will be 30 November.

2.2 (GR)

A student whose effective date of registration is 30 November in any year will be eligible to enter for examinations in the following calendar year for the first time

Period of registration

The maximum and minimum periods of registration will be:

2.4 (GR)

No reduction in the prescribed minimum period of registration is permitted.

2.5 (GR)

Renewal of registration beyond the maximum period of three years will be permitted only in exceptional circumstances and with the special permission of the University.

A student who transfers from the Work Experience Entry route to the BSc degree in Computing and Information Systems or the BSc degree in Creative Computing will be given a new maximum period of registration of eight years for the degree. This will be effective from 30 November in the year that the student transfers.

Confirmation of continuing study

2.7 (GR)

To maintain their registration with the University, a student must confirm their continuing study annually, and pay the appropriate fees by the given deadlines.

The continuing registration procedure is sent out annually to students.

2.8 (GR)

A student's registration will lapse if the continuing registration fee is not paid by the given deadline for the relevant programme. A student whose registration has lapsed will not receive new study materials, or be allowed to enter for an examination.

2.9 (GR)

A student who wishes to reinstate a lapsed registration may, at the discretion of the University, either:

  • pay all outstanding continuing registration fees and complete the continuing registration form and receive the remaining period of registration, or
  • cancel their registration, pay a new registration fee and receive a new maximum period of registration.

At its discretion, the University may decide on which of these options a student must take in they wish to continue their studies. In either case, the results of all previous examinations will remain valid.

Cancellation of registration

2.10 (GR)

A student may cancel their registration at any time. Fees will not be refunded except in exceptional circumstances.

Registration of former students of the University

2.11 (GR)

In addition to satisfying the entrance requirements given in the Work Experience Entry route Programme Summary, an applicant who was previously either registered as an International Programmes student or enrolled at a College of the University of London must have paid the University or College all due fees and accounts. An applicant who fails to satisfy this condition will not be permitted to register, or to register again, for a Work Experience Entry route.

2.12 (GR)

An applicant who has previously received a University of London award, or whose registration with the University was terminated because they had exhausted the permitted number of attempts at an examination, may apply to register again as an International Programmes student for a programme of study in a different subject or field of study.

2.13 (GR)

A student who is permitted to register again will be required to pay a new registration fee. The student will receive a new maximum period of registration.

2.14

A student whose registration as an International Programmes student for the Diploma or BSc degree in Computing and information Systems or the Diploma or BSc degree in Creative Computing has been terminated, because the student has exhausted the number of permitted attempts at an examination and cannot proceed, will not be permitted to register for the Work Experience Entry route.

2.15

A student who has been awarded the Diploma in Computing and Information Systems or the Diploma in Creative Computing will not be permitted to register for the Work Experience Entry route.

2.16

A student who has successfully completed the Work Experience Entry route is not permitted to enter examinations again for the same or equivalent courses as those passed.

2.17

A student registered for awards other than the Diploma or BSc degree in Computing and Information Systems or the Diploma or BSc degree in Creative Computing may apply to transfer to the Work Experience Entry route, provided they satisfy the entry requirements given in the Work Experience Entry Route summary.

2.18

A student who is not permitted to transfer but who wishes to register for the Work Experience Entry route must cancel their registration for the other programme of study and apply to register afresh for the Work Experience Entry route, subject to satisfying the entry requirements given in the Work Experience Entry route summary and provided they are not excluded by the regulations set out above in this section. Students who are permitted to register afresh in this way:

  • will not be permitted to carry credit for any courses previously passed either to the Work Experience Entry route or, in the event of a subsequent transfer, to the degree in Computing and Information Systems or Creative Computing and
  • will not be permitted to carry any failed attempts at courses from their previous registration.

2.19

International Programmes students registered for the Diploma or BSc degree in Computing and Information Systems or the Diploma or BSc degree in Creative Computing will not be permitted to transfer their registration to the Work Experience Entry route under any circumstances.
