Annex C: Credits and accreditation of prior learning
A student may be considered for credit for a subject that was passed during a previous registration with the University of London. Where credit is given, the mark obtained for the subject previously studied will be carried forward to the student's record and may contribute towards the award, in accordance with the scheme of award for the programme concerned.A student may be granted accreditation of prior learning (APL) and be exempted from studying a course if they have previously passed a similar subject either at the University of London or at another institution. APL may be given when a course is not sufficiently similar for credit to be awarded. The mark obtained when the subject was passed will not be carried forward to the student's record and will not contribute towards their award.
Table of equivalent credits
The following table shows the courses that may be credited to a student, on transfer, on the basis of equivalent courses that have been previously passed. A student may only be credited with courses which are available on the degree to which they are transferring. This is shown on the table by the following key. Reference should also be made to the notes at the end of this table and the programme structures in Annex A.

i. Students will be credited with ST104A Statistics 1 (half course) and will be required to discard credit for ST104B Statistics 2 (half course). This discarded half course will count towards the total number of discarded courses permitted on transfer. Students who are not credited with or have not passed MT105A Mathematics 1 (half course) or IS1129 Introduction to programming (forStandard Route BScInformation Systems and Management)or GY1148 Methods of geographical analysis (for BSc Geography and Environment) or SC1158 Reading social science (for Path B BSc Sociology and Standard Route BSc Sociology with Law) will be required to take MT105A or IS1129 or GY1148 or SC1158 after transfer to total the equivalent of one full course.
