Signing up for the External System was the second-best thing I ever did for myself - the very best being the acquisition of the English proficiency levels that allowed me to do it. I am comfortable with the language, and wanted an English-medium degree over any other, but could not face the time and the expense to take three years off to do a BA. The External System was the ideal solution. It allowed me to keep working full-time and save the money to come to London, where I am right now, doing a MA in a linguistics-related discipline at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Originally I had just planned on a new career course, with the aim of qualifying myself for English Language Teaching to non-native speakers, but now, after my MA, my options will have grown exponentially. I can affirm that the External System will have enabled me to turn my professional life around.
